Disputed spot-kick downs Addicks

More of story 1

Charlton suffered late penalty pain at St James' Park on Saturday as the Addicks suffered a 1-0 defeat to Exeter City.

A controversial spot-kick from Ryan Harley two minutes into stoppage time earned the Grecians their first League One win of the season and left the Addicks empty handed for a second successive Saturday.

Harley kept his cool from 12 yards after Miguel Llera was adjudged to have brought down substitute Jamie Cureton in the box after a hopeful punt forward caused all kinds of problems.

It was an agonising end to the game for the visitors, who looked set for a hard-earned point in Devon. And after Kyel Reid limped out of the action due to injury, substitute Akpo Sodje ended the afternoon in the back of an ambulance following a nasty clash of heads with home skipper Steve Tully. More of story 1

Penalty decision puzzles Parky

Phil Parkinson was far from happy after Charlton suffered a late defeat at Exeter City on Saturday.

A disputed penalty from Ryan Harley two minutes into injury time gave the Grecians their first League One victory of the season.

Miguel Llera was adjudged to have fouled substitute Jamie Cureton in the box as the duo and visiting keeper Rob Elliot scrambled for the ball.

But addressing the press after the game Parkinson said: “I’m not happy as you can tell. It hurts when you lose any game but to lose after a contentious decision like that is difficult to take. More of story 2
